We have recently been experiencing a difficult situation at our nearby Wapseys Wood landfill site that has led to a number of odour complaints.
The onset of recession, rises in the rate of landfill tax and an increase in the subsequent promotion of recycling activities in recent years has resulted in lowering demand for landfill. Consequently the constructed ‘void’ at Wapseys Wood landfill is taking longer to fill than originally intended. This has hindered the installation of planned landfill gas collection infrastructure, along with the placement of engineered capping and restoration soils progressively across the site.
Veolia is therefore inviting those residents of the affected communities to come along and meet with members of our team at a forthcoming open event. Veolia representatives will be available to discuss concerns regarding issues with odour and other matters, and to share details of our proposed mitigation measures.
The event will be held on Friday 21st March at Jordans Village Hall, from 3pm until 6.30pm.
Please note this is an open ‘drop in’ event, so anyone can call in at a time that is convenient. However, in order to ensure that you are able to speak directly to an available member of our team, please let us know if you intend to join us by contacting [email protected] or by calling 01753 883704.
